About the Author
Fred Lutgens and Ed Tarbuck have been good friends and colleagues since 1970. Between them, they have more than 57 years of experience teaching geology to undergraduates, and both have been recognized with awards as excellent and inspiring professors. They share a special interest in introducing geology to beginning students and a belief in the value of field experiences for students of all levels. Lutgens and Tarbuck published their first college text, Earth Science, in 1976. That book, winner of the McGuffy Award from the Text and Academic Authors Association, is now going into its tenth edition. In 1983, as the first edition of Earth was being prepared, gifted geology illustrator Dennis Tasa joined the author team. Since then the three have collaborated on more than twenty projects. Not only do Tarbuck, Lutgens, and Tasa work well together creatively; they also enjoy spending time in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Tasa’s New Mexico studio. Tarbuck enjoys downhill skiing in Colorado, fly fishing near his childhood home in Northern Minnesota, and spending time in the Cascades. Lutgens is an avid runner, and when he can make the time, truly enjoys hiking the canyons of the Colorado Plateau. Although Lutgens and Tarbuck think alike on many issues, they don’t agree on everything. Lutgens is devoted to jazz and classical music, whereas Tarbuck prefers pop artists or a good country station.

Beyond fuming. This book is missing MULTIPLE pages. 37 & 38, 43 & 44, 49-52, 57-60, 65-70, 72-76, 79 & 80 - Just to name a few. There are sizable gaps between the missing pages. One or two missing pages, I'd understand - it's just a rental, right? But enough missing to the point where I just failed a quiz? Not acceptable.
Great lab work I can use with my 8th/9th Earth Science students as well as beginning Earth science students of any age.Clear directions. Good pictures. A nice mix of astronomy, geology, oceanography and meteorology. It offers a little information and then a lab to see if you understand that information. A nice collection once again by Tarbuck, Lutgens, Pinzke, and especially Tasa (with his very well done illustrations.)
I received this manual when I was supposed to. I have no complaints. I was a littel concerned in the beginning, thinking I would not receive it in time for my class. The packaging was excellent, not too big or too small. Everything was great! I am HAPPY!
It's exactly what I needed although there is one mistake on one of the geologic time lab reports. Other than that, there's a whole table of measurements on the inside cover and various topographic map labs.
I bought a used spiral bound lab book. I am taking this course online and have found out TWICE now that I am missing numerous pages mid-lab assignment (which are timed!). The shipping was fast but none of that matters when you don't get what you paid for. I paid for ALL of the pages.
I gave it three stars because the kindle version doesn’t give an option to print out the pages. Which means i had to screen shot them just to print activities and lab reports

I hate it. Terrible lab book. I was hoping I could print pages for labs at school but not the case. No better than my school's digital version which limits the pages that can be printed.
